Supporting a neurodiverse child can be rewarding, but it can also feel overwhelming at times. Many parents and carers experience feelings of isolation, uncertainty, or worry, particularly while navigating assessments, diagnoses, education, or everyday family life.
Our online Peer Support Sessions provide a welcoming, confidential space where parents, referred from Kent County Council, can connect with other parents and carers who truly understand. Led by our Together With Parents facilitators, who have lived experience of supporting neurodiverse children and young people, these sessions offer an opportunity to share experiences, exchange practical ideas, and support one another in a safe, respectful and non-judgemental environment.
Peer support is built on the understanding that there is real value in speaking with people who have walked a similar path. By sharing challenges, successes and practical coping strategies, participants often gain fresh perspectives, increased confidence and reassurance that they are not alone. Research shows that peer support can help reduce feelings of loneliness, isolation and stigma while promoting positive mental wellbeing and resilience.
In the three short videos below, some of the team explain more about what to expect from these sessions and, parents who have attended, explain the benefits they have found.
