Each month, our Merthyr Tydfil team recognises a learner who has made significant progress on our Jobs Growth Wales + programme. This month, we are celebrating a learner whose confidence has grown tremendously since joining the programme, particularly in his ability to engage with others and take part in new experiences.

When this learner first joined the centre, he was quiet and lacked confidence, particularly in social situations. He rarely participated in group activities and was uncertain about his future goals and career aspirations. As a result, he often kept to himself and found it difficult to engage with others.

Since then, he has made remarkable progress. He has explored a range of career and education pathways before deciding to apply to university. Through his hard work and determination, he successfully secured a place and will begin studying Art, Social Science and IT this September.

Over the last two months his confidence has grown significantly. He has become more comfortable in social situations; he is regularly speaking with other learners and actively participates in group activities. This increased confidence has helped him to participate in wellbeing trips in centre.

His journey has been inspiring to witness. He has shown resilience, embraced new opportunities, and developed both personally and academically. His positive attitude, commitment to his goals, and willingness to step outside of his comfort zone make him a deserving recipient of the Learner of the Month award.

Everyone at Elevate Employment Services (Merthyr Tydfil) is incredibly proud of everything he has achieved over the past few months. Watching him grow in confidence, secure a place at university, and prepare for this exciting new chapter has been a pleasure. We wish him every success in his future studies and have no doubt that he will continue to achieve great things.
